5/22 Update

posted May 22, 2020, 10:52 AM by Nikhil Joshi   [ updated May 22, 2020, 11:09 AM ]

You should have received an email from Ms. Tipton that discussed a new online class schedule we want to try. The goals are
  • Limit Zoom time (and leave time to complete HW online)
  • Provide more flexibility to students (thus Zoom classes in morning and afternoon in case your responsibilities only allow mornings or afternoons)
  • Allow for advisory
  • Provide a mid-week break of sorts to catch up on homework, re-energize etc.
  • Allow for staff office hours to answer your questions and otherwise support students
  • Allow for staff meetings to coordinate, plan, deal with staff tasks
Please see the attached PDF below to view the schedule.

I have updated the class calendar to reflect our new meeting times.  You can access the Zoom link by clicking on the event in the calendar.  We will start this new schedule on Tuesday 5/26.

Calculus and Astronomy will meet twice per week per the schedule. FbD will meet on Thursdays.

4/1 Update

You have two assignments this week in FbD.

  • Please communicate with your project partners and discuss what you think you can now realistically achieve on your project by June 1st. Assume we return to school as planned on May 4, 2020. What will you be able to demonstrate as working on June 1st? One person from your team should email me bullet points of what you will demonstrate to me and the class and cc: your teammates. Due Friday 4/3.
  • Please complete the FbD Project Standards reflection by next Wednesday. You will need to make a copy of the document on your Google drive before you start working on it. Share it with me and create a card for it on your Trello board. Due Wed the 15th (after spring break).

3/13 Update

posted Mar 13, 2020, 9:42 AM by Nikhil Joshi

Hi guys. Trying to figure out what we're going to do over these next few weeks.

Those of you working on software can largely continue work [looks at Gridlock].

Those of you with software/hardware components that are decoupled from your partners can mostly continue work [looks at Starling and Barracuda].

Zuum and Taz - your projects are more integrated across the subsystems. Let me think about this for a few days. You guys also think about it and feel free to email me with any ideas you have.

Hang in there, and check this space in the next few days to see what I've come up with.

Fri 11/15  - Same as Wed. Update your design documents and publish via Trello!

Wed 11/13 - Students are free to work on their projects, however by end of class on Friday, each student should have at least two good pages of discussion for their part of the group project in their Project Design and Development document. I will be looking at their documents on Friday afternoon for their particular part of the project.

Tue 11/12
- Students should be working on their sections of the Project Design and Development Document. They should ensure their Trello Board List has a card pointing to the design document for me to review.

Here's a google document that can serve as a template for your project design document.

You should make a copy in your google project folder and give everyone on your team me,edit rights.

Then add a card to your project Trello list for important documents.
