18 Stellar Graveyard

As stars consume their hydrogen fuel, they start fusing helium, and if massive enough, heavier elements. As their alternate nuclear fuel runs out the stars enter the stellar graveyard. These remnants include some of the most exotic objects in the universe - white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes. Stellar remnants can exhibit remarkable behavior including periodic massive explosions called novas, x-ray bursts, and gamma-ray bursts.
