Technical Paper Excerpts Due 1/14

Your rough draft for the technical paper excerpt is due Monday 1/14. The goal of the excerpt is for each of you to demonstrate you understand how to write clear technical content for a scientific or technical paper. You don';t have to write a complete paper, just an expert that contains the major elements of technical document - namely prose, supporting diagrams, figures, or data, and supporting mathematical content.

The excerpt must comply with the following requirements:
  1. No more than 3 pages of content.
  2. The excerpt must include several paragraphs of written content explaining a part of the work you did in the solar physics project. For example, computing the solar luminosity and mass, or the logic used to compute the lifetime of the sun. The content must explain a technical concept - it can't be the introduction, or conclusion to the paper.
  3. Each partner must write an excerpt that refers to a different part of the paper. I suggest one partner discuss aspects of computing the AU, or luminosity and mass, and the other partner discuss solar lifespan and energy sources.
  4. The written content must be supported by both a diagram or graph, and an equation. The written content must reference the supporting content.
  5. The diagram must have a descriptive caption.
