Homework is assigned in AP Calculus to help you practice your skills, self-assess your understanding, and to provide a context for you to ask informative questions and seek extra help from me. It is important for you to do homework on a daily basis. I typically do not grade homework assignments or count them for credit. However, I will track homework for students who I feel can benefit from doing homework on a more regular basis.

All students will do Khan Academy homework from the start of the school year until after the Limits test. After the limits test homework tracking and amount of homework varies based on your grade.

85% or Higher: No homework is tracked. I assume you are doing homework that is effective for you to maintain a B+ average or higher. At 85% or higher I feel that student has a good chance of earning a 3 or higher on the AP Calculus test.

80%-84%: Students will complete Khan Academy homework and progress will be tracked. Students in this range are typically on the border of passing the AP test. They often only need to be more focused or rigorous in their approach to studying and homework to raise their grade and improve their chances of passing the AP test. Performance on Khan Academy exercises is automatically tracked and reported to me on a weekly basis.

0%-79%: The point of homework for students in this grade range is to improve understanding and learning to earn or maintain a reasonable grade in the class. Students are expected to complete Khan Academy assignments and complete written homework. In addition students are expected to turn in homework assignments for each unit on a regular basis. I will periodically meet with students to go over their homework.

Please register for my AP Calculus Khan Academy class using the instructions below:

1. Sign up at khanacademy.org (or log in if you already have an account).
2. Visit khanacademy.org/coaches (the “Coaches” tab in your profile).
3. In the “Add a coach” field, enter the class code BVC4GESJ for AP Calculus AB
4. Click Home to start

For each unit textbook, such as "u2.5 - The Chain Rule" the student should do at least  the first seven assigned problems, and three more problems from the middle of the assigned problems. For example, if the homework assignment is listed as [u2.5: 1-45 odd, 75-79], the student should turn in problems 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 (the first seven problems in the set), and 31, 33, and 35 (three problems in the middle of the set). 

This will typically result in one to two homework sets per week, for a total of 10-20 problems per week. Homework associated with a unit covered in class must be turned in no later than the week following its discussion in class. Homework must be turned in weekly by Friday during class so I can review it over the weekend.
